Best Laptops for Homeschooling & Online Learning (2021 Update)

A laptop used exclusively for e-learning or homeschooling need not be expensive to work well, but it must meet certain criteria to ensure maximum speed and optimize the learning process.

Today, we are here to share with you the best laptops for homeschooling and online learning. These products aren’t expensive, but they work great, allowing juniors and seniors to take their classes and programs seamlessly and without interruption.

The world situation is forcing school systems to turn to distance learning, as well as other alternative learning methods, such as… B. homeschooling, out-of-school learning and even global learning.

And for all these types of education, you need a laptop that can handle the challenges of streaming content online (from different learning platforms or live with teachers), as well as offer decent speed when it comes to word processing and running different programs and applications for homework, projects and the general learning process.

Now, in detail, let’s check out the best budget laptops for homeschooling and online learning in 2021 below!

Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3

The cheapest product on our list is the Chromebook, unlike the Windows computers below. Chromebooks cannot run Windows applications, but most offer alternatives that you can also use on this operating system.

The biggest advantage of the Chromebook is that it is not expensive, and it is these computers that are offered in schools all over the United States. So they are good and reliable when it comes to e-learning, although they are not ideal for Windows laptops.

They also require a connection to the internet, as the operating system is essentially a web browser with added functionality.

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 is small – at just 11.6 inches, it can be a challenge for older students, but it’s perfect for younger students who don’t mind a small screen. The picture quality is good and the screen is also touch sensitive, which means that students can interact with the screen by dragging it and using it in tablet mode.

This 2021 model offers solid performance thanks to 4GB of RAM and an integrated MediaTek MT8173C processor. It has a super-fast eMMC drive for storage, but with 32GB of RAM. That’s extremely little these days, but luckily you can increase the storage capacity with an SD card or use cloud storage, since Chromebooks are designed for this kind of use.

Like all the models on this list, it has a decent quality webcam – it offers HD quality and the built-in microphone ensures that the student is heard without any problems.

It’s a decent model for e-learning, but it doesn’t really offer many features, especially if you use Microsoft Windows or need to use Windows-based software. It also doesn’t lend itself to multitasking and is relatively slow compared to the other models below.

The main advantage, however, is the low price. If you have a very tight budget, you will have to make do with it. It’s not perfect, but there are worse options.

ASUS VivoBook 15

In my opinion, this is the best choice if you want to combine a small budget with good performance. For distance learning and homeschooling, I think it is also the best option because of the familiar operating system, Windows 10.

It’s a larger, but portable and lighter laptop with a 15.6-inch screen that offers a non-glare Full HD widescreen display, meaning the screen will continue to work even outdoors or in high-light environments.

With 8GB of RAM and an Intel i3-1005G1 processor, it offers good performance. Even though the processor is not among the latest models, it works well when it comes to school and e-learning activities. It is compatible with Google Classroom and all other applications and services currently used for online learning.

It also offers more storage space than our previous model: A 128GB SSD. It’s not much, but it’s just enough for a laptop used primarily for home study and most internet activities.

It also has other useful features, such as a backlit keyboard (ideal for use in dark environments) and a fingerprint reader for privacy and security. It has many useful ports, including a USB Type-C port and an advanced HDMI port.

The webcam also offers good picture quality, and the built-in microphone does a good job as well. We have a much better setup, but for the purposes of e-learning (and the price of this unit), the combo works perfectly.

The design of this laptop is also very good, with an excellent screen-to-body ratio giving it a great look, while the device itself is thin and light. It also has a numeric keypad on the keyboard to make working with numbers easier.

Overall, this VivoBook is a great option when you look at the price/performance ratio. The only comment is that the battery life is unfortunately not the best, with only about 4 hours of intensive use on a single charge. But since you’re home most of the time, that shouldn’t be a problem.

Dell Inspiron – Editor’s Choice

Our top pick today is a Dell laptop that offers great performance at a decent price, so you have absolutely no reason to complain.

This is a full-size laptop (15.6 Full HD screen) that offers very good image quality. It also has a very elegant and beautiful design – slim, light and very handsome! As an added bonus, it’s also ergonomically designed, meaning the keyboard angles slightly, making it more comfortable and less stiff on the wrists.

The specifications of the laptop are really good and offer a lot of speed even when multitasking or running many tabs/programs.

Equipped with 16 GB RAM and a screen of 11. With its Intel Quad-Core i5-1135G7 processor, this laptop can easily handle any home study or e-learning related program. It also provides sturdy storage: 512GB on a fast SSD, so you can store lots of extra files, documents, photos and videos (and all your stories!).

While it doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card (needed to play most modern AAA games), it does feature Intel’s latest integrated card, the Intel Iris Xe, which is said to offer better performance than previous integrated GPUs.

It has a good quality webcam and a built-in microphone (but you can also use headphones to amplify incoming and outgoing sound), a full backlit keyboard, and a fingerprint reader to complete the quality products.

It has two normal USB ports, as well as a USB-C port and an HDMI port. The screen is not touch sensitive, but this is not a big problem in our opinion.

Overall, this is a very solid laptop that offers exceptional performance and reliable speed for all the software you can throw at it (in terms of online training), and is reasonably priced as well. The best choice here!

Acer Nitro 5

Well, if you have the money to spend, you’ll probably be very happy with this beast, which is the only laptop on our list that can handle more serious gaming (which also means it’s better for multitasking and more advanced processes like video or photo editing).

All this thanks to a special graphics card. It is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with 4 GB of dedicated RAM. While it’s certainly not the best product on the market, it’s much better than the integrated cards of previous models and can easily handle more complex tasks, as well as modern PC games.

It also has an excellent processor, the 9th generation Intel Core i5-9300H. There’s a 3rd generation processor that accelerates to 4.1 GHz (very fast for the uninitiated), and 32 GB of RAM. Only these specifications remain valid and represent a reliable choice for the years to come.

It also offers a large storage capacity with a mix of SSD and HDD drives. Not only do you get a decent 512GB SSD, but also a 1TB hard drive that can hold large files and archives. All in all, a very good combination!

It has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with excellent picture quality and good speakers. The built-in webcam and microphone are perfect for framing sessions (or Google courses, or whatever program your school and teachers use).

It has a backlit keyboard with full number dialing, but it’s also a bit heavier and bulkier because it is, after all, a gaming laptop, which requires extra components for extra power. So it’s fast and generally very good!

This is a more expensive laptop that is not only ideal for homeschooling, but also for multitasking and even gaming when the student needs to relax. (I’m not saying you can’t play games on other models, but you can play more games with better graphics on this model).
